Titans ‘Grew Enamored’ with Cam Ward During Meetings amid Draft Rumors

As the rumors persist that Cam Ward will be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the Tennessee Titans are apparently fond of the Miami quarterback.
Per The Athletic’s Joe Rexrode, the Titans “grew enamored” with Ward in a predraft meeting in which he talked through some of his game film in college to explain his thought-process on certain decisions.
It would be considered a huge upset if Ward weren’t selected by the Titans.
B/R’s NFL scouting department dropped a new mock draft Thursday, with Ward going No. 1 overall.
Per NFL mock draft database, 83 percent of all mocks right now have Ward being the pick for the Titans. The New York Giants were at one point rumored to be looking at trading up for the first pick, but that doesn’t appear to be on the table anymore.
Some of the Titans’ moves in free agency suggest the front office and coaching staff want to put a rookie quarterback in a more hospitable environment. Their signings include veteran offensive linemen Kevin Zeitler to play right guard and Dan Moore Jr. to play left tackle.
Tennessee also notably didn’t invest in a quarterback who could step in as a starter next season. The team did sign veteran Brandon Allen as a depth option, but Will Levis is penciled in as the top quarterback on the depth chart.
Even though there was a time when it seemed like the Titans would opt to go with the best overall player in the draft at No. 1 regardless of position, it now appears they are zeroing in on Ward at that spot.
It’s also possible the Titans view Ward as the best player in the draft, so they won’t necessarily be going back on what their initial plan was.
Ultimately, the fastest way for the Titans to get back to being a competitive franchise is to find a good quarterback. Ward is the best one in this class and had an impressive 2024 at Miami, throwing for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns in 13 games.
The Titans have posted a losing record in three consecutive seasons. Their 14 losses during the 2024 campaign were tied for the most in a single season in franchise history.
