NFL player Tua Tagovailoa willingness to speak so confidently about his faith in today’s society is inspiring. Despite the teams loss that day he was not discouraged.

Tua Tagovailoa is the quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. He was a Heisman Trophy candidate, one of the best players in college football, and an NFL top pick.

A few years ago, he suffered a dislocated hip; an injury that rarely happens to an athlete.  Nevertheless, Tua Tagovailoa remained optimistic. He posted on Twitter the night after the incident, “Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes! God always has a plan.”

Furthermore, in an interview with CBN, he shared that his foundation for life is his faith and his family.

“You know, my faith is what keeps me motivated when I can’t even stay motivated myself. I’m just trying to play football, just trying to be able to take care of my family and be able to use my platform for the right reasons,” he said.

“I think the best thing about being a believer in Jesus Christ is that the good Lord up above doesn’t care whether you win a game or whether you lose a game,” he said in a post-game interview.

His Motivation

Additionally, he acknowledged that he can influence many people through his platform, and for that, he’s grateful. “Allowing me this platform—to me, it’s the best thing in the world. To be able to profess my faith about something I firmly believed in, something that’s been foundationally instilled in me at a young age,” he said.

A few of the many things that also motivated him to keep on going are prayer and the scripture.

“When I’m out there, like I even pray before I go to a series and whatnot, I’m always praying. While I’m on the sidelines, it looks like I’m talking to myself, but [I’m] speaking in tongues. I grew up in a non-denominational Christian church my entire life. Having to remember scripture always keeps me encouraged and continuing to press forward, especially in times like this,” he said.
