Predictions, analysis ahead of NFL schedule release
We are just days away from knowing the entire NFL schedule as they are set to announce it this coming Wednesday.
The entire NFL schedule will be known this week, with some games being announced each day on various outlets leading up to it. It all started on the Today Show when NBC’s Mike Terico announced the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles would kick the season off against the Dallas Cowboys.
From there, more details are expected to be released today and before Wednesday’s full announcement.
Getting to see the schedule, though, will allow us to see what kind of start the Bucs could have and also what the end of the season could look like. Some rumors and games are already being teased, leading up to Wednesday’s official announcement on NFL Network.
Here are some last-minute predictions and analysis of the schedule and the Vikings‘ opponents.
What games could be played in Primetime?
Philadelphia Eagles
Getting to play against the defending Super Bowl champions is always a must-watch. Add in the fact that the Bucs handed the Eagles a one-sided beatdown in Week 4 of the 2024 season adds a storyline to this on top of the Super Bowl aspect. Sign me up for this to get a national primetime slot as we get as many eyeballs on this matchup of high powered offenses.
Buffalo Bills
Speaking of high-powered offenses, the Bucs and Bills could be a fun matchup and a potential Super Bowl preview. Josh Allen is coming off an MVP season, and the Bills are playing with a chip on their shoulder after not making it to the Super Bowl once again. Seeing them and the Bucs go head-to-head is deserving of a primetime slot.
Detroit Lions
The Lions lost two regular-season games in 2024, one to the Buffalo Bills and MVP Josh Allen, the other to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have had the Lions’ number for two straight seasons now and that is enough of a storyline to deserve a primetime listing of these two NFC powerhouses.
What is the most challenging game on the Schedule?
The Buffalo Bills are going to be a challenge that the Bucs have not had to face in some time. They wanted to focus on rebuilding the defensive line and edge rushers this offseason, and getting them to contain Josh Allen will be a tall task. If they fail, it falls on the linebackers led by Lavonte David to keep Allen in check. If they cannot do that, it will be a long day for the Bucs defense.
What is the easiest game on the Schedule?
The Saints game to me seems like it could be much easier for the Bucs after the retirement of Derek Carr. Unfortunately, he has to step away due to injury, but it now leaves the Saints without a stable option at quarterback, and that is something the Bucs could take advantage of with their veteran-led defense.
