Blowout, thrashing, thumping — no matter the label you want to put on it, the New England Patriots’ Week 17 game against the Los Angeles Chargers was a lopsided affair.

Playing in front of a home crowd, the team of first-year head coach Jerod Mayo came out flat and never recovered from dropping into tan early hole. The end result was a 40-7 loss that goes into the books as the worst of the Mayo era.

As a consequence of the defeat, the Patriots now find themselves at 3-13 with only one game left in their underwhelming 2024 season.
