AFC East Week 7 – The Big Lead

The AFC East is having a bit of an identity crisis as the Patriots (4-2) are now in first place for the first time since 2021 after the Bills (4-2) lost their second-straight game (the Patriots own the head-to-head tiebreaker). The Dolphins (1-5) suffered another late loss to the Chargers, while the Jets (0-6) are still searching for their first win of the season.
And with that, let’s turn our attention to the AFC East Bold Predictions for Week 7.
The Patriots will beat the Titans by at least two scores
While the 4-2 Patriots are set up for a bit of a trap game as they face the Titans this week, the matchup represents a revenge game for Head Coach Mike Vrabel, so everyone will be on their A-game this week. The Patriots are favored by a touchdown on the road, but I think they’ll pour it on even worse than that for their fourth-straight win (and third straight on the road). 27-13, Patriots.
This is the week that TreVeyon Henderson breaks out

It’s been a slow start for the second-round rookie, but TreVeyon Henderson has been close to busting a few. While he’s been struggling to adjust to the speed of the NFL game, Henderson will get to face a Titans defense that is allowing 114 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs (fifth-worst in the league). Though he may only get 10-12 touches this week, Henderson is going to put up at least 80 total yards against the Titans this week – including a 30-plus yarder.
Season-long prediction: Josh Allen will with the 2025 MVP Award

It’s been a slow start to the 2025 NFL season for Josh Allen if we’re judging him against the lofty standards he’s set. Through six games, the reigning MVP has 1,397 passing yards to go along with 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. While those numbers aren’t horrible, Allen is ninth in yards, fifth in touchdowns, and 13th in QBR. While he’s got a bit of ground to make up, Allen has a pretty easy schedule ahead of him and should start to ramp things up after the bye. If the Bills can secure the best record in the league, Allen has a great shot to repeat as MVP,
Season-long prediction: The Bills will make a splash at wide receiver

The Bills have looked good this season, but their offense has looked sluggish over the past few weeks – especially their passing attack. Without a true alpha receiver, the Bills have struggled to challenge defenses. Shakir is the current WR1, but with players like Jacobi Meyers and Chris Olave also on the market, I’m going to go with the Bills making a big splash by trading their 2026 first-round pick for A.J. Brown.
Mike McDaniel will lose his job after another loss

The Dolphins have been close to winning five of their six losses this season, but they just haven’t been able to overcome their own mistakes. With locker room tension simmering this week, Mike McDaniel’s seat is piping hot as the Dolphins head to Cleveland to take on the 1-5 Browns. While neither team is good, I’m going to go with the home team with a good defense here. And I think that will probably be the end of the Mike McDaniel Era in Miami.
Darren Waller will score a touchdown for the fourth-straight week

I don’t know how he keeps doing it, but Darren Waller has scored in all three of his games this season. He now has four touchdowns in his last three games and has established himself as a go-to option for Tua Tagovailoa. While his yardage totals haven’t been anything special, Waller has been a red zone monster and will find the end zone again in Cleveland this week.
The Jets will continue to be the lone winless team in the NFL

I’m not sure if this really counts as bold, but the Jets should have lucked into a win by now, so we’ll go with it. The Jets are the only winless team in the league at 0-6, and things aren’t going to get much better as the 3-3 Panthers come to town. While Carolina isn’t a great team, they’re still a lot better than the Jets. We’re going with a score of 28-17, Panthers.
Mason Taylor is going to have a huge game

The Jets will be without their best receiving option in Garrett Wilson this week, and that arguably makes rookie TE Mason Taylor the Jets’ best receiving option at the moment. The rookie had a couple of good weeks before the entire Jets offense laid an egg last week, so he’s generally trending upward. The Panthers are the worst team in the league in terms of limiting receiving yardage to tight ends, so Taylor should be able to feast. We’ll go with at least 80 receiving yards and a touchdown.
