Game Day Breakdown

Auburn football vs. South Alabama

AUBURN — For the first time in its 133-year history, Auburn football will square off with a new in-state foe on Saturday, Sept. 13, (11:45 a.m. CT, SECN) playing host to South Alabama.

It’s historic, in the sense that the Tigers will now have competed against six of the seven Division I programs in their home state. But the stakes are even more considerable.

Auburn enters as a three-plus touchdown favorite, and should it follow through, it’ll maintain an undefeated start, going 3-0 to kick off a season for the third time since 2019. The table would be as set as ever for the Tigers to have a turnaround campaign, which they sorely need in the aftermath of a step-back season last fall in Year 2 under Hugh Freeze.
