Is It the End for Travis Kelce? Here’s What Patrick Mahomes Says

Despite the loss on Feb. 9, the future is still bright for the Kansas City Chiefs and Travis Kelce, according to his hopeful quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Though Kelce skipped the post-game Super Bowl pressers on Sunday, Mahomes was asked about the tight end’s NFL future, as many speculate retirement is on the horizon.

“I’ll let Travis make that decision on his own,” said Mahomes. “He’s given so much to this team and the NFL and been such a joy, not only for me to work with, but for people to watch and he knows he still has a lot of football left in him and you can see it.”

Sad Mahomes of Kelce: “He always makes plays in the biggest moments . . . I know he still has a love for the game and he’ll get to spend some time with his family and make that decision on his own.”

At 26, Jalen Hurts is a first-time Super Bowl champion — and MVP.

The Eagles quarterback was named most valuable player of the 2025 championship game after scoring three total touchdowns.

Speaking to Fox’s Terry Bradshaw, Hurts said, “[I] couldn’t be here without my teammates. The effort and determination everybody displayed to get to this point. … Hell of a game today.”

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially squashed the Kansas City Chiefs’ chance of making history with a three-peat.

The Eagles are the 2025 Super Bowl champions.

Led by quarterback Jalen Hurts and head coach Nick Sirriani, the Eagles finished the game with 40 points over the Chiefs’ 22. The Eagles last won the Super Bowl in 2017 — their first big game victory, ever.

Chiefs Put More Points on the Board with Just Minutes Left in Super Bowl

As the 2025 Super Bowl winds down, with an Eagles win imminent, the Kansas City Chiefs scored an additional touchdown to minimize the gap.

DeAndre Hopkins scored a touchdown with just minutes to go in the fourth quarter, making the score 14-40.

Despite the points, the Eagles began to celebrate — pouring yellow Gatorade all over coach Nick Sirianni.

Then, with less than two minutes on the clock, Xavier Worthy scored his second touchdown of the game for the Chiefs, making the score 22-40.

Philadelphia Eagles Score, Again, Raising Score to 34-0

Kelce made a catch for eight yards.

As CBS Sports notes, Kelce has had at least 90 catches in seven seasons in a row — so a catchless first half is rare for the tight end.

Kendrick Lamar References Drake Lawsuit During Halftime Show Performance

Though Kendrick Lamar just won multiple Grammys for his diss track “Not Like Us,” he’s still part of a lawsuit from its subject: Drake.

Drake is suing Universal Music Group, his own record label, for releasing and promoting the diss track.

Lamar seemingly referenced the suit during Sunday’s Super Bowl halftime show, rapping, “I want to perform their favorite song, but you know they love to sue.”

The rapper did perform the song, though, and also wore a lowercase “a” on a necklace — seemingly a reference to the lyric, “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A-minor.”

Serena Williams — Drake’s Ex and Compton Native — Dances on the Field During ‘Not Like Us’

Another exciting special guest during the Super Bowl halftime show had a special relation to one of Kendrick Lamar’s hit tracks.

Lamar, of course, performed his Grammy-winning Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” during the halftime show. And while he was rapping the highly-anticipated song, Drake’s ex, tennis icon Serena Williams, joined him on the field for a dance feature.

Sharing a video of herself in her blue jacket and skirt from the performance on social media, Williams admitted, “I died a little!”

After a few songs, Jackson appeared again, telling Lamar he’s “too loud, too reckless, too ghetto.”

Fox paid tribute to the iconic music of New Orleans, the Super Bowl host city, during an on-the-field musical performance featuring numerous local bands and Louisiana native Harry Connick Jr.

Trumpeter Terrence Blanchard broke down the names of those featured in the performance in an Instagram post earlier on Sunday.

“The NFL will honor my hometown of New Orleans by commemorating the unwavering resilience of the New Orleans community with the unmistakable jazz sounds of our city,” said Blanchard. “Joining me will be some of the great New Orleans-raised jazz masters, including me Terence Blanchard, the SFJAZZ Executive Artistic Director, Harry Connick Jr., two of my favorite brass bands – the Original Pinettes (New Orleans’ only all-female brass band) and the Soul Rebels, plus the Spirit of New Orleans Gospel Choir and the Southern University Marching Band (The Human Jukebox). Harry Connick Jr. will be joined by my friends Leroy Jones on trumpet and Freddie Lonzo on trombone.”

Through the performance, the groups wove “together the city’s deep-rooted musical traditions in a powerful tribute to our hometown,” said Blanchard.

Oscar-winner Brad Pitt lent his talents to a pregame video that aired during the Fox broadcast on Sunday, highlighting the history of the “huddle” alongside various clips of American history and everyday Americans.

‘We, all of us — the dreamers, the warriors, the builders and believers — brought together to celebrate our greatest game,” said Pitt during the intro video. “The game that teaches us what we can achieve when we gather together, in that most American of formations — the huddle.”

Said Pitt, “Think about it, when we are bound be a common goal, we’ve reached heights, authored achievements … in ways that have lifted the world and one-another.”

As the actor spoke, footage of American achievements — including the invention of the airplane — played. Later on, video of U.S. soldiers reuniting with their families, was included.

“The huddle is a metaphor for our history, for the power found in our shared purpose,” explained Pitt. Noting the country is “bound by the promise and driven by the pledge to chase the prize.”

Will the Kansas City Chiefs Make History?

The Kansas City Chiefs were the victors in the last two Super Bowls. The team defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, and, in 2024, the San Francisco 49ers.

If the team wins again this year, it’ll be history-making: they’ll be the first team in NFL history to “three-peat.” The Chiefs will also set a five Super Bowl championship record with a win.
