Eagles stay unbeaten against Rams with last-second touchdown

The Philadelphia Eagles (3-0) still don’t know what it feels like to lose in the 2025 NFL season. The defending champions rallied to beat the Los Angeles Rams (2-1) 33-26 at Lincoln Financial Field.

With a one-point lead, Jordan Davis made the heroic play—blocking a potential game-winning field goal attempt as time expired. The Eagles’ defensive lineman immediately scooped up the ball and rumbled 61 yards to the end zone, reaching a top speed of more than 18 miles per hour.

Rams squander 19-point lead

The Eagles boast a dominant defense and showed it right away. Zach Baun picked off a Matthew Stafford pass intended for Davante Adams. Philadelphia marched downfield and added another touchdown with a “tush push.”

The Rams got on the board with a 51-yard field goal from Jake Karty. After a three-and-out by the Eagles, Stafford made up for his earlier mistake with a 44-yard bomb to Adams.

Los Angeles appeared to have another touchdown, but it was wiped out by an offensive holding penalty. The Rams had to settle for a 28-yard field goal. They kept the Eagles in check for the rest of the half, tacking on additional kicks from 33 and 46 yards.

Eagles dream of a comeback

Things got even tougher for Philadelphia in the third quarter. Jared Verse sacked Jalen Hurts and forced a fumble. Nate Landman recovered, and on the very next play Stafford hit Kyren Williams for a touchdown.

Down 26-7, the Eagles refused to fold. Hurts hit two deep shots to spark the rally. First came a 38-yard connection with A.J. Brown, then a 33-yard touchdown strike to Dallas Goedert.

Hurts and company kept closing the gap. The offense marched 87 yards, capped by the quarterback finding Brown in the end zone. With Jake Elliott’s extra point, the game tightened to 26-21.

After the two-minute warning, the Eagles drove 87 yards again, this time finishing with a Hurts touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith. The home team went for a two-point conversion that would have made it a three point game but couldn’t convert.

Jordan Davis sealed the win with the final play of the game. The Eagles’ defensive lineman blocked Karty’s field-goal attempt that could have made it 29-27 Rams. Instead, his perfectly timed swat and 61-yard return clinched Philadelphia’s victory.
