Women Who Lead

Everything that happened on Day 10 at the French Open 2025 including quarterfinal wins for Alcaraz, Swiatek

We saw our first semifinalist of the day confirmed in the women’s singles earlier today as Aryna Sabalenka booked her space in the final four with a straight sets win over Qinwen Zheng.

It has been a windy day at Roland Garros and it affected many of the day session matches, including Sabalenka’s.

Here’s how she reflected on her progress in the tournament when speaking to TNT Sports:

“That was a true battle, I was happy with the win. Conditions were tough and I was happy with the win. The wind was going one direction but sometimes it was in a circle. It was tricky, sometimes it was the wind and sometimes I tried to put more spin on it.

“She started really well and I was on the back foot all the time. So I tried to step back and find my rhythm, not to overhit the ball all the time but to go with the speed. I tried to put as many balls as I could to the back and the side. So I was really happy to turn around that first set and get the win in straight sets.

“With the years I have improved a lot. I’m stronger than ever. I improved my movement which is important on clay. I’m ready to play as long as needed to get the win. I’m proud of myself and hope to be by the end of the tournament.”
