Former NFL Player Trashes Charlie Kirk After His Death

A former NFL player has trashed Charlie Kirk in the wake of his death on Wednesday afternoon.
The 31-year-old political influencer was shot and killed at a speaking event in Utah. Kirk, who grew up outside of Chicago, was doing a college speaking event at Utah Valley University. He was shot in the neck and rushed to the hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead. President Trump announced his death on social media, via his platform, Truth Social.
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” he wrote.

In the wake of Kirk’s passing, several tributes have poured in from the sports world, including some from current and former NFL players.
However, one former NFL player who has gotten into politics chose to mock Kirk in the wake of his death.
Former NFL player trashes Charlie Kirk after his death
Chris Kluwe, a former NFL punter who played in the league from 2005 until 2013, trashed Kirk on social media following his passing.
The former NFL player, who was fired from his job as a high school football coach earlier this year after calling the MAGA movement a “Nazi” movement, trashed Kirk on social media. He also praised Sen. Elizabeth Warren for pushing back on the idea that Democrats are responsible.
“(Expletive) finally. Fight back against the bulls— framing that tries to make Dems responsible for everything. The GOP is choosing to create this kind of societal environment. They could stop it at any time. They have agency as well. They’re not (expletive) children (except when, well, you know),” Kluwe wrote.
Kluwe added that he believes that Kirk is responsible for creating the society that he lived and died in.
“It is possible to hold both of these things true at the same time: 1) political violence is never an appropriate choice in a civilized society 2) Charlie Kirk’s dream is to create exactly the kind of society he currently lives in, as spoken from his own mouth,” Kluwe wrote.
Immediately following Kirk’s death, Kluwe posted a tweet that read: ” ‘Hahaha yes! This rules!’ ‘what the f— .’”
Kluwe, who punted for the Minnesota Vikings from 2005-12, has not held back his opinion of the current administration.
“This administration is trying to put obedience over duty to the country. This administration is trying to thrust our country into turmoil in order to reap power for themselves. And I think regardless of political affiliation, all of us as Americans should be able to agree — no kings, no tyrants, not now, not ever,” Kluwe said.
The NFL held a moment of silence for Kirk on Thursday night, before the Packers vs. Commanders game. NFL teams will get to choose how they honor Kirk before the Week 2 games on Sunday.
