Irwin County Schools names Larry Harold new head football coach

IRWIN COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – Irwin County Schools is excited to announce the hiring of Larry Harold as the new head football coach for the Irwin County Indians.

With over a decade of experience in high school football and coaching at the collegiate level, Coach Harold brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the program.

Harold has previously served as head coach at Macon County High School, Brunswick High School, and Central Gwinnett High School. His coaching career also includes time at the University of Tennessee, where he developed athletes in the SEC. Over the past ten years, Coach Harold has built competitive programs and fostered a positive team culture. He is especially known for coaching standout players, including Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith during his high school career.

Superintendent Kerry Bilingsley expressed excitement about the new hire.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Larry Harold to our Irwin County family. His extensive coaching experience and dedication to student-athletes make him the ideal leader for our football program. We are confident that he will inspire our players to reach their fullest potential and elevate our team to new heights,” said Bilingsley.

Coach Harold shared his enthusiasm for joining the Irwin County community, saying, “I look forward to building strong relationships with the players, coaches, and the community while working tirelessly to continue a winning program. Together, we strive for excellence on the field and in the classroom.”

The Irwin County School System is looking forward to the upcoming season under Coach Harold’s guidance, with a meet-and-greet event scheduled soon for the community to meet Coach Harold and hear more about his vision for the program.
