Italy beat Norway in Euro 2025 quarter-final: Live updates and reaction

Italy have defeated Norway 2-1 in the first quarter-final of Euro 2025 in Geneva.

Cristiana Girelli broke through for the Italians to put them ahead in the 50th minute, getting the slightest of touches to redirect Sofia Cantore’s delivery.

Ada Hegerberg equalised for Norway in the 66th minute, redeeming herself after missing a penalty just minutes earlier.

The match seemed destined for extra time until Girelli scored again in the 90th minute, heading home from point-blank range.

Italy, who have advanced to the semi-final for the first time since 1997, will face either Sweden or England next.
