Teens charged after damaging Mill Creek High football field, almost hitting officer in stolen truck

BUFORD, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Two teens are facing several charges after a truck was stolen and used to damage a high school football field before nearly hitting an officer trying to arrest the suspects, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The pickup truck was reported stolen on Tuesday from a home on Adams Acre Drive in Lawrenceville, police said.

Police said after the truck was stolen, it was driven to Mill Creek High School and used to damage the football field.

The truck was spotted by Flock cameras in Buford later that day. Police then found it at a Walmart on Sardis Church Road.

“When officers gave commands to the occupants, they drove the car towards an officer and nearly struck him with the vehicle,” police said in a press release.

The two suspects were reportedly arrested after driving away, crashing into another car and trying to run away.

Police said the driver, a 16-year-old girl, was tased while trying to run away.

The other suspect, later identified as 17-year-old Robert Krause, was also arrested.

Both were charged with aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, fleeing or attempting to allude a police officer, reckless driving, hit and run, driving without a license, obstruction, giving a false name to a police officer, theft by taking motor vehicle and entering auto, according to police.

Krause was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail and the other suspect was taken to a youth detention center.
