The NFL Honors postseason awards show finally reveals the NFL regular season awards winners ahead of Super Bowl LIX Thursday night, including the NFL MVP race.

The race is down to just five finalists − former Louisville football star and current Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles, Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals and Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions.

Here’s what we know about the NFL MVP race:

Josh Allen. The Buffalo Bills quarterback was named the NFL MVP winner during the NFL Honors ceremony at the Saenger Theater. The winner was announced ahead of Super Bowl 59, which will be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The NFL MVP finalists were released Jan. 23, 2025.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson won the 2024 Pro Football Writers of America NFL MVP award, tying him with Tom Brady for second-most PFWA NFL MVP wins with 3. Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers have each won the award four times.

At 27 years old, Lamar Jackson became the second-youngest player to win multiple MVPs. He led the Ravens to the best record in the NFL, 13-4, beating 10 teams with records at .500 or better. Jackson passed for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns in addition to rushing for 821 yards and five touchdowns.
